Letter to Attorney General: Introduction of Legal Professions Act

  • April 19, 2024

On April 19, CBABC delivered a letter to the Attorney General, calling for the government not to pass the newly introduced Bill 21, the Legal Professions Act, until affected parties have had an opportunity to provide their feedback. The Act will bring lawyers, notaries and paralegals under one regulator.

Lawyers and articling students need more time to review, understand and consider the details of this legislation for the first time following its public release. This enables us to have effective and productive dialogue with government, the Law Society of BC, and other organizations and associations.

We encourage all CBABC members to understand the proposed changes and share your thoughts, so we can bring your views forward.
